5 Doodles for Father's Day - Amy Latta Creations

June is here, and it’s time to think about celebrating the special men in our lives. Here are five simple doodles you can use for creating cards, scrapbook pages, stickers, and more.

I drew these sample images using the Apple Pencil in the Procreate app on my iPad Pro. Of course, they’re also perfect for drawing with pencil and markers too. Grab whatever supplies you’d like, and let’s get started!

THE NECK TIE

Neck ties are a popular symbol (and gift) for men…even though my dad and my husband tend to avoid wearing them whenever possible! To draw one, start with two diagonal lines going in opposite directions. Connect them at the top and bottom to form the knot of the tie. Then, make the sides of the tie and it’s pointed bottom. Add any type of pattern you like and color it in to finish off your doodle.

THE STACHE

Do the dads in your life have a mustache like mine does? Here’s a quick doodle that you can tweak to represent different kinds of mustache styles. Draw two curling flourishes going in opposite directions, then add curving lines on the bottom. Color it in and you have a handlebar stache. For a more “normal” mustache, leave the curling ends off and add a few detail lines inside.

THE HAT

My dad rarely goes anywhere without a hat (in fact, be sure to check out this post for how to make a ). To draw one, start with an upside down “u” and draw a waving line across the bottom. Add the hat’s bill and details, then color/personalize it any way you like.

THE TROPHY

Show dad he’s the best with this cute trophy doodle. Start by drawing a “u” with an oval on top. Add a curving handle on each side, then draw a simple base. Color it in, and add whatever message you’d like on the side of the cup.

THE RIBBON AWARD

To doodle this rosette, start with a circle, then draw rounded squares all around it. Add a short line inside each for detail. Add two ribbon streamers (parallel lines connected with an upside down “v”), then personalize it with color and your award message.

These are just a few ideas, but you can also use all kinds of other drawings to create a special card or gift. You can add sports balls and equipment, work-related items, things related to grilling, and doodles of anything dad particularly enjoys. Hope this helps you get started creating something special!
